Question: In other countries, bears are put into fights. Is there soemthing being done about this? I find it appauling how they are treated and it needs to be stopped, how are they doing this, if at all?

I completely agree with you.

I believe that bear baiting is incredibly cruel for many different reasons. WSPA (world society for the protection of animals) has a very active campaign on bear baiting, as well as trying to stop the use of bears in bile farms, circuses etc. (https://www.wspa-international.org/wspaswork/bears/default.aspx#.UUJpuUJmpgs)

The two ways that these different practices can be stopped are by government legislation (making things like bear baiting, bile farming, poaching illegal), and by educating people on why these practices should be stopped. Unfortunately, there are people out there that don’t understand why these practices are cruel. If we can educate these points hopefully it will end these sorts of practices.
