I chose this career because it provides reasonable living with intellectual challenge and job satisfaction which gives a far more satisfying life than any other pursuit. There is no routine and no repetitiveness in the work. In research, the prime focus of activity is not generating wealth but to pursue your interests in any problem that you want to investigate. This profession is always highly creative requiring continuous application of intelligence and training and limited only by imagination. Its life time innovativeness and application of mind and academic skills for the entire life span makes it the most fascinating life style.

I chose to be a scientist as it was a career that allowed me to explore the unknown in a scientific field I enjoyed. I guess its similar to what an artist experiences beginning a new project and deciding where it will take them artistically. I also liked the idea of working independently and seeing many places and meeting lots of different people.

I’ve chosen to study agriculture for lots of reasons. I really like plants so I will be able to work with them, also I love working outside. But I also love biology so doing agricultural science is the best of both worlds =) Agriculture is also really important for the future because there are more and more people in the world who need to be fed and I want to help feed people. Science is one of the best ways to fix big world problems like this and it’s also exciting, challenging and very interesting.

Building on what the others have said. I chose the career because it is right for me. I like science, it makes me feel good, I am good at it because I am interested, I get a job that I like, which makes me feel good, etc etc…
At first i wanted to work with plants and have an outside job. Now I am in an office doing lots of different things and travelling to all sorts of places here in Australia and overseas.
