I loved working at both places! The group I worked with at CSIRO was excellent, and many of them are still my good friends. Along with this, since this is where I did my PhD I was really involved in animal welfare and production at this job, and I love both of these fields.
The zoo was great fun too. Lots of nice people and I learnt a lot. I was working in the reproductive lab so I didn’t have daily hands on contact with the animals, but I did get to see plenty of them up close and got to discover amazing things about their physiology while I was there. I was looking at their hormone profiles to test for pregnancy, reproductive fitness, stress etc. and to do this you need to test their poop. I looked at a lot of poop in that job! haha.
