Question: how does photosynthesis work?

  1. Hi michaelt4,
Photosynthesis is a process where carbon dioxide in the air is converted to sugars (sucrose) by an enzyme called rubisco. The process uses light energy from the sun to drive the reaction forward. Rubisco is located in chloroplasts that are found in leaves, they are also associated with chlorophylls which help to capture the light energy. A part of the process requires a water molecule to be split into hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen is released into the air which we use to breath.
