Question: If you didn't achive your goals before you retire, would you help the next generation of scientists?

  1. Hi daughterofares,

You bet. Thats part of the job, to mentor during your career and as it winds down. This is probably one of the most satisfying aspect of the job as we develop long-lasting relationships with the colleagues we train and work with. I still work with my PhD supervisor and he still mentors my career. I hope to do the same for my students and staff where ever they end up. Really important question you asked – good job!
    Cheers,
    Brent

  2. Hi
I will be helping the next generation of scientistss after I retire. I plan to put back what the system gave me at least in a little way. I think I have much in the way of industrial science experience to share

  3. Yes definately, one generation’s experience should be used to mentor the next one, to me that is the best way to pass on knowledge and experience

  4. I hope I will eventually =) the best teachers you will ever have are the ones who have years of experience in the subject and know it really well and very passionate about it.

  5. Hi Daughterofares,

Definitely! I agree with all of the replies below and am also really glad to see everyone has the same enthusiasm for encouraging young scientists as I do. Hopefully you’ll be one of the scientists we are mentoring!
