Great question girls – the best part of my job is that I get to work with animals to improve their welfare. I find this so rewarding and fulfilling. It’s great knowing that you are making a difference, and I feel really lucky that I get to work in a field that I’m passionate about.
Along with this, I like the travel, problem solving and creativity associated with my job. I’ve given a few examples of this on my profile page.
Thanks for asking that question and making me think abut it. The best part of my job is knowing that it is not a job, it is a life style, it is living a meaningful life that can make a positive impact on many lives. Whenever I go to African rural areas and look at the children, their problems hurt me but knowing that we can do something about it charges me with fresh energy and I am able to get back to lab with renewed resolve, It also makes me realize how lucky we are that we got the opportunity to make a difference.
When I was working for research companies last year, the best part was being outside every day in beautiful countryside and each day looking at a different cultivar or pest. It was satisfying to know that the work we were doing was really useful and we could see the results of a trial after working on it for weeks or months. Now that I’m studying, the best part is learning something new every day and being able to see how useful the knowledge will be later on in my career =)
I think the best part is conducting experiments and seeing something happen the way you predicted it would. I also like the people I meet and the places I get to visit.
